Watch One, Do One, Teach One

You can't learn by osmosis, you know.

It’s a common methodology in the study of medicine: you observe a procedure, you do a procedure, and then you teach a procedure. Trying a thing you’ve only watched someone else do (or read about) gives you a different perspective on the process and technique and teaching that thing to someone else will shift your perspective once again. All three acts are acts of learning - each one will teach you something different.

For those thinking that they could never do the third step - a class size of one is sufficient. You only need to teach one person [at a time] about your chosen subject.
